The Importance of Backing up your data
We’ve all been there at one point in time….
We turn our computer on one day and the usual hum of the system is interrupted with some strange noises like click, click, click, clack! You wonder what is going on? Blank screen still… then finally a BIOS startup screen, then you see the dreaded …. “
NT loader is missing” or “please insert bootable” media appears! You wonder to yourself, I hope my information is still safe. You scramble and take your pc to the local pc repair shop only to find out that your HARD DRIVE has failed!!! And if you want your data back it can cost upwards of $650-$1,500 and there is NO guarantee that it will all be there.
Your pictures, documents, precious videos and photos of family and loved ones ALL GONE!!!
The reality is a frequent backup is painless and can be done by anyone with basic computer knowledge! And yes its free!!!
For windows users we have the ever handy “Backup” program which is under the START –> ALL PROGRAMS —> ACCESSORIES —-> SYSTEM TOOLS
You need not have a computer certification to use this program, there is an easy to use wizard mode that you can select all the folders that you wish to keep. Just make sure you go out and buy external media like a 1 TB USB external hard drive (Comp USA has them for around $40-$60) cheap insurance for price less data!
Be sure to backup often and have the piece of mind of that second chance opportunity when a hard drive fails!
